The BERA Podcast was launched in 2020 and aims to reach a broad educational audience, showcasing our members and their work as well as the important contribution education research can make to policy and practice. The podcast showcases different educational research areas and perspectives, explores hot topic issues in education, and features educational experts talking about their careers and research passions.

Our aim is to produce episodes that attract policymakers, parents, teachers, educational leaders, members of school communities, politicians, and anyone who is interested in education today.

We are looking to recruit a dedicated Podcast producer to help develop podcast content.  This role is likely to suit a Post graduate student or Early Career Researcher.

As the BERA Podcast producer you will be responsible for curating the guests and topics to be featured on the podcast, organising the recording of content and editing the final audio files for upload onto the BERA website and our podcast host Buzzsprout. Each podcast is normally between 30-40 minutes in its final version.

Responsibilities:

• Contribute original ideas for episode topics and guests
• Research and prepare information for episodes and interviews
• Manage the podcast schedule
• Coordinate the recording of the podcast with the podcast host and guest
• Edit the final audio using Audacity, or other preferred editing software, cleaning and mixing audio file if required and adding in music and voiceover
• Write episode descriptions and manage the collection of guest biographies
• Liaising with BERA office staff about launch and publicity for each new podcast

Training will be provided at the start although we hope the successful candidate will have some prior experience in aspects of the work detailed above. Our preferred candidate is an educational researcher and someone familiar with the subject material.

We are offering renumeration of £120 per podcast episode. This is a freelance position and will begin October 2022 and run 6 months in the first instance, with possibility of renewal. Payment will be made upon invoicing against work done.
