BERA Equality in Education Award

The BERA Equality in Education Award recognizes an individual whose work has sought to address wider issues of inequality and discrimination in education. The nominee’s work will not only have advanced issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in a local and/or national and/or international context, but there will be evidence that this work has contributed towards creating sustainable structural change in systems and structures that perpetuate inequality and discrimination
The recipient of this prize will be honoured at the BERA annual awards presentation on 8 November 2023 in London.

Advancement of issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in education: Has the nominee’s work made a significant contribution towards addressing issues of inequality and discrimination?
Context: Has the nominee’s work focused on addressing issues of inequality and discrimination in a specific local and/or national/international context?
Evidence of sustainable structural change: Has the nominee’s work contributed towards creating sustainable changes in systems and structures that perpetuate inequality and discrimination.
Innovation: Has the nominee’s work demonstrated innovative approaches to addressing issues of inequality and discrimination in education and society.
Collaboration: Has the nominee’s work been done in collaboration with other individuals, groups, or organizations to address issues of inequality and discrimination in education and society.
