Manchester Metropolitan University are seeking to appoint two new programme external examiners for undergraduate programmes in the Childhood and Youth area. The programmes lie within the Department of Childhood Youth and Education Studies, in the Faculty of Education.  

Programmes within this area are designed for students who are interested in working in professional, graduate roles with children, young people, families and communities across the social care, education, health, community settings, in voluntary and statutory organisations.

The programmes are designed to provide an innovative, flexible, enterprising and internationalised curriculum. The curriculum ensures students develop critical self-awareness, which ensures success as graduate world class professionals.  Students can choose to pursue specific routes which emphasise practical competencies and lead to professional qualification recognised in the sector.

 

(Post 1) External Examiner: New Awards in Childhood and Youth Programmes

In the first year 2016/17, the newly appointed external would oversee Level 4 of the programme provision in the following areas. This would roll out into Level 5 and 6 in future academic years and the post holder will share responsibility with the Post 2 external examiner. Specific unit responsibilities to be agreed based on expertise and interests.

The appointment is to run for four academic years from September 2016.

B.A. (Hons) Early Years and Childhood Studies

B.A. (Hons) Early Years and Childhood Studies (Practice Route)

B.A. (Hons) Youth and Community Work [JNC Professional Youth Work Qualified]*

B.A. (Hons) Youth and Community Studies

B.A. (Hons) Childhood and Family Studies

B.A. (Hons) Childhood and Family Studies (Practice Route)

* For the Youth and Community programmes, the newly appointed external would work alongside the practice external examiner who oversees the requirements of the NYA JNC component of the course.

(Post 2) External Examiner: Early Years and Childhood Studies

To see out the external examining arrangements for the undergraduate degree programme which is running out (Level 5 and 6 in 2016/17 and Level 6 in 2017/18) and incrementally take on responsibilities within the new programme to provide shared oversight of academic units across the new programme. Specific unit responsibilities to be agreed based on expertise and interests.
