The Department of Sociology, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy, Trinity College Dublin, is seeking to appoint an Assistant Professor in Sociology to commence on the 1st September 2017. The Department of Sociology is expanding and investing for the future and is looking for a rigorous, theoretically informed empirical sociologist who can work in the multi-disciplinary School of Social Sciences and Philosophy. All specialisms will be considered but preference will be given to candidates whose interests align with the Departments existing strengths:
employment, education and stratification
migration, integration and identities
power, conflict and resistance
social network analysis and digitalisation
Candidates should be able to teach a module in research design and methods, including qualitative and quantitative methods, to post-graduate level. Most of all, the Department is seeking an individual with vision and enthusiasm, a genuine commitment to the vital roles of teaching and research, including a flair for innovation in course design and teaching methods. Candidates must have an established record of rigorous and insightful research and clear potential to develop an impactful research programme and publication profile.
