What are the pressing issues affecting English teaching in classrooms today? This question is explored from the perspective of curriculum development in practice and in theory. The aim of the day is to consider the ways in which a curriculum perspective can suggest positive ways forward for classroom practitioners.
Keynote speakers will address areas such as English pedagogy and curriculum links between ages and stages. The immediate focus is on current conditions in England but the issues have wider, international resonance.
A selected panel of guest speakers will provide focal points throughout the day, with regular opportunities for discussion and networking. A ‘curriculum builder’ exercise will provide opportunities for more conversation amongst attendees and should generate fascinating insights about possible next steps for curriculum builders in English.

The BERA Early Career Researcher Network offers a limited amount of bursaries to the value of £75 towards travel for BERA Student Members and BERA Teacher Members only.
Bursaries are offered on a first come, first served basis. Travel expenses will be reimbursed after the event in accordance with our travel policies. You must not have previously received bursary funding from BERA.
