LSIS opportunities in 2012-13 for practitioner research

Do you have a good research idea but need some support and some thinking time?

LSIS is the improvement body for the further education and skills sector, and our commitment to supporting research in, about, and by, our sector is ongoing.  We can now announce the following new opportunities for 2012-13, and which will be delivered in partnership with the University of Sunderland Centre for Excellence in Teacher Training (SUNCETT) and the Institute for Learning (IfL).

The Research Development Fellowship (RDF) programme 2012-13

This will be the fourth year that we are running our Research Development Fellowship (RDF) programme and due to its success over the last three years we are now able to offer 40 places on the 2012-13 programme.  We are seeing a gradual accumulation of significant impacts from the projects that have been supported so far – both for learners and learner outcomes, on teaching and learning practices and on the professional development of the individual staff who participate.

The “exploratory research” programme for English, maths and ESOL/functional skills 2012-13Having run successfully for the first time last year, in 2012-13 we are making 20 places available on this introductory 'exploratory research' programme which is intended for practitioners who would like the opportunity to further develop their research idea, perhaps in advance of subsequently taking their project further (which could be by a future application to the RDF programme).

The deadline for applications to both programmes is Monday 10 September 2012

Further information and the guidance documents and applications forms for both programmes can be found  on the news page on our research site: http://www.excellencegateway.org.uk/node/628

(These programmes are intended for SFA funded providers in the further education and skills sector.  The SFA funding may be direct or indirect.)
