Westminster Education Forum – Primary school assessment and accountability reform

Sessions at this seminar will focus on proposed reforms to assessment structures and accountability measures for primary schools. Wednesday 5th November 2014 in Central London.

Delegates at this seminar will discuss the likely impact of proposals to allow schools to devise their own assessment systems following the removal of National Curriculum levels; the Government’s plans to introduce revised tests at Key Stages 1 and 2 from 2016; and plans to strengthen the external moderation regime to improve the consistency of teacher-led pupil assessment.

Further sessions for discussion will also include changes to the accountability structures for primary schools including: the introduction of revised floor standards and new baseline tests – to be sat by pupils at reception from 2015 and to be made compulsory for all pupils from 2016, as well as the new requirement for schools to publish detailed information to help parents understand the progress made by their children.

We’re delighted to be able to include in this seminar keynote addresses from a senior speaker confirmed from the Department for Education and Russell Hobby, General Secretary, NAHT.

Sir Andrew Carter, Headteacher, South Farnham School; Professor Emerita Mary James, Faculty of Education, University of Cambridge and former President, British Educational Research Association; Dr Gene Kerns, Chief Academic Officer, Renaissance Learning; Vicki Shotbolt, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, The Parent Zone and Rosamund McNeil, Head, Education and Equalities Department, NUT have also agreed to speak.
