The specific interest of the Comparative and International Education SIG is to encourage and represent research in comparative and international education, in order to foster a comparative presence in the work of BERA. The issues covered by international and comparative education research range from questions surrounding policy, classroom-based matters, learners’ and teachers’ experiences and identities, in different countries.
Furthermore, we are particularly interested in the methodologies and epistemologies used when carrying out comparative and international research in education.
Aims
The Comparative and International Education SIG aims to develop understandings of, discuss and represent issues related to, and encourage scholarship in comparative and international education.
It aims to mainstream comparative discourse across those educational research domains which tend not to benefit from a comparative perspective to the extent that they might.
It provides a space where members and the wider research community can network, and can disseminate and discuss their research in the field of comparative and international education. The SIG convenors are particularly keen to promote events where experienced researchers and researchers at an early stage of their career can meet.
